If you want ray tracing acceleration in hardware, you can't go any lower-and while Nvidia does offer DirectX Raytracing (DXR) enabled drivers for it's GTX 10- and 16-series cards, DXR performance is typically far lower than even the RTX 2060. It launched in January 2019 and acts as the caboose for Nvidia's RTX line. The bad news is you might need to flash the VBIOS after purchase (it's not too difficult, though). The good news is that good RX 5600 XT cards like the Sapphire RX 5600 XT Pulse and Gigabyte RX 5600 XT Gaming OC cost $300 or less. The result is a pretty big discrepancy in performance between the base model RX 5600 XT and the higher performance models. It was originally intended to compete against Nvidia's GTX 1660 Ti, but then Nvidia dropped the price on its 2060 Founders Edition and worked with EVGA to release a $300 EVGA RTX 2060 KO, which in turn caused AMD to release new BIOS guidelines to its partners. You can see where it sits in terms of performance in our GPU benchmarks hierarchy, but there's more to the story than raw performance. AMD's RX 5600 XT launched in January 2020, offering a middle ground between AMD's higher performance RX 5700 cards and the budget RX 5500 XT.
